The group consisted of seven girls with different personalities and dreams: Kim Jang-mi (Go Su-hee), a portly girl who wants to have cosmetic surgery; Lee Geum-ok (Lee Yeon-kyeong), a literature lover who wants to be a writer; Kim Bok-hee (Kim Sun-kyung), a beauty pageant hopeful who wants to be Miss Korea; Hong Jin-hee (Hong Jin-hee), a smart girl who wants to be a lawyer; and Hwang Su-ji (Min Hyo-rin), a rebellious girl who wants to be a singer.
The film also features the younger versions of the characters, played by Shim Eun-kyung, Kang So-ra, Kim Min-young, Nam Bo-ra, Kim Bo-mi, Park Jin-joo, and Min Hyo-rin respectively. The film shows how the girls became friends in high school, how they faced various challenges and conflicts, and how they drifted apart after a tragic incident. The film also depicts the social and political atmosphere of the 1980s in South Korea, such as the pro-democracy movement, the influence of American culture, and the rivalry with another group of girls called "Girls' Generation".
